Tizen is an open and flexible operating system built from the ground up to address the needs of all stakeholders of the mobile and connected device ecosystem.

On Thursday, Linux Foundation said that over 1,000 developers participated in the Tizen Developer Summit (TDS) which started in Bengaluru from Wednesday.

TDS is being held in India for the first time and has attracted companies and organizations such as InMobi, Unity, Airtel and Nasscom. TDS is an annual global event sponsored by Samsung Electronics and Tizen Association to assist local app and platform developers interested in contributing to the growth of the Tizen operating system which Samsung uses in its lower price band smartphones. This leads to enormous opportunity in India where a large base of platform and app developers continues to show significant interest to develop Tizen OS and high-quality apps.
