Intex Technologies incepted in the year 1996 is an Indian smartphones, consumer durables and IT Accessories manufacturer. Intex is headquartered in New Delhi, India. Intex manufactures Smartphones, IT accessories and consumer electronics durables.

Intex Technologies today announced its entry into the wearable device market in India with the launch of iRist smartwatch at the first Mobile World Congress in Shanghai. The device is priced at Rs 11,999, the iRist smartwatch comes with a SIM card slot as well. Keshav Bansal, director, Intex Technologies said, “The iRist smartwatch can be seen as a smartphone on the wrist,”.

“Intex is now the second largest domestic smartphone brand in India. With over 80,000 dealers across the country, we sold 2.1 million handsets in June and have acquired a share of 10.5% in the local smartphone market. Intex aims to sell 15 million smartphone in FY 15-16 with equal importance to both online and offline sales,” said Bansal.

The iRist smartwatch is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and sports a 1.56-inch Sapphire Glass display. Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor with a 512-MB RAM and 4GB ROM, expandable up to 32GB. It comes with a 600-mAh battery with 3G SIM support and a 5MP camera along with pedometer and GPS.The device comes with a voice-assistant and an iConnect apps that sync with the smartphone if the iRist is used without a SIM card.
