Uber expanding its footprints to 7 new cities in India, Uber is now operational in four new cities include –Guwahati, Nashik, Thiruvananthapuram and Vadodara.
In the last couple of months, Uber has doubled their operation in India taking the total numbers ofcities from 11 to 22 cities. Uber claims that they currently have over 150,000 driver entrepreneurs on their rolls and are growing at 40 percent month on month.
Even though Uber is growing extensively in India, their rival Ola is the biggest player in this space and currently operate in over 100 cities in India, and plan to grow to 200 cities in the next year or so. Ola claims to have over 250,000 vehicles on their platform. Apart from cabs, Ola has expanded to auto-rickshaws and Kaali-Peeli taxis in Mumbai.
Uber on their part have been coming up with some interesting initiatives off late – Recently, they came up with “UberPitch”, where Entrepreneurs get to pitch to Mentors/VCs in a Uber car and spend 15 minutes exclusively with them. Uber too recently introduced Uber Auto in Delhi, and is expected to launch it in other cities as well.
