Founders Divij Saharia and Manmeet Sabharwal

MBASkool was started by Divij Saharia and Manmeet Sabharwal in 2011. They did their MBA in 2010 from NMIMS, Mumbai. They have work experience with companies like Tata Motors, Idea Cellular, Oracle & Infosys and are very fond of playing football, online gaming and photography.

It was during  MBA when they realized that there was no website dedicated to the MBA students who are seeking knowledge and content related to management. There were sites for aspirants having admission information, but none which MBA students could use during their course time for connecting with the MBA fraternity.

In an interview with KnowStartup a few questions were asked to the founders to which the answers were as follows..

  • What does  MBASkool  do?

MBASkool provides thousands of pages of quality management content free of cost to its users. MBASkool has reached out to over 12 million visitors from nearly 100 countries worldwide. Apart from the content, MBASkool has had associations with over a 100 B-Schools like all IIMs, IITs, XLRI, IIFT, NMIMS etc to name a few. There is a lot of engagement amongst MBA students through internships, competitions, college events etc

  • How different is it from other competitors?

Other management websites primarily focus on aspirants and how they should get into an MBA institute.On the other hand, MBASkool caters to different needs of students, professionals & aspirants as it is a management knowledge portal. MBASkool has a repository of latest business articles, over 5000 brands across various sectors analysed by the Brand Research Team. Students and professionals can also benefit from over 5000 Business Concepts & Definitions section, along with the other sections and also campus activities.

  • Investors (angel, venture) and funding if any ?

We have not raised money as of now. We are still bootstrapped but revenue stream is becoming steady, with the breakeven happening in 2014. In the future, if we do find some investors keen on maintaining a vision of enhancing management education, we are open for investments. Investments would help us market our brand well and reach out to a more global audience seamlessly.

  • What were the biggest challenges for your startup?

We faced a lot of challenges in the beginning but we learnt a lot from them. The main obstacles which we faced was on the technical front and taking the brand to students and also maintaining the content inflow. Running a knowledge content based website like MBASkool can bring in many challenges on a regular basis but finding a solution is a challenge which we are willing to accept. These obstacles teach us a lot and help us in becoming more robust and bring the best out of us.

  • What are the future plans?

In the near future, we plan to increase our associations with B-schools in India as well as abroad for submissions, events and internships. Our main aim is to raise the quality of management education by involving students and experts in creating and sharing knowledge.

With a vision to be the most preferred online destination for management graduates and business professionals, MBASkool has a good start in a market. They reach out to 2 lakh students a month and have 40,000 registered users on the site with 20,000 downloads for their Android App.
