Noida based Convegenius, which focusses on digitising education and making it affordable, fun and rewarding has raised $300,000 (Rs 2 crore) in pre-Series A funding from unnamed investors based in India and Southeast Asia. The transaction was facilitated through Enablers, a web-based platform that connects investors and startups for funding purpose, ConveGenius said in a press statement.
The funding will be used towards enhancing its products and expanding its technology/contents aggregation teams.
ConveGenius was co-founded by Shashank Pandey and in 2013, both alumni from IIIT Hyderabad, aims at becoming a market leader in Edutainment. The company aims to create disruption in the knowledge and digital media segment by providing affordable educational solutions for both the existing and the emerging mobile users globally.
Convegenius is a strong team of 26 members who are alumni from various colleges across India, trained in varied disciplines. The core management team comprises of alumni from various institutes of repute in India and abroad like IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Allahabad, IIT Bombay and NTU Singapore.
The startup was featured in KnowStartup last month.
Education in India is one of the areas that hasn’t been touched by the technology. The country has seen big progress made in the areas from home services to transportation, but one that hasn’t had a significant impact is the area of education.
Another edu-tech startup MockBank has raised $400,000 in a seed round of funding led by Blume Ventures.Singapore-based angel fund Mercatus Capital and angel investors such as Slideshare co-founder Amit Ranjan and Bain & Co. India chairman Srivatsan Rajan also participated in the round.
