1. Quikr to launch digital marketplace for aspiring actors
Online classifieds firm Quikr Technologies Pvt Ltd, founded by Pranay Chulet and Jiby Thomas in 2008, will soon launch a digital marketplace to connect actors, casting professionals, directors and other professionals of the Indian film industry.
2. Apple acquires motion capture technology startup Faceshift
Apple has quietly acquired motion capture technology company Faceshift in an undisclosed deal. It was speculated in August about the acquisition but Apple didn’t disclose about the deal, only until now when TechCrunch has confirmed that the deal indeed took place and Faceshift is now part of the Cupertino giant.
3. Bus pooling startup Trevo shuts operations
Trevo, a bus aggregation startup based in the national capital region, has shut shop after operating for barely a month. Nikhil Vij and Raghav Jain, two of Trevo’s co-founders, said the company has stopped operations but refused to disclose more information.
4. Idea Acquires Videocon’s Spectrum For Rs 3,130 Crore
Idea has entered into a strategic agreement with Videocon to use the latter’s spectrum to scale up their data and voice services. This agreement will allow Idea to use the new spectrum until December 2032, which the company intends to use for deployment of 4G (LTE) in UP and Gujarat.
5. Ola Partners with Haptik to Enable Cab Bookings on Chat
Mumbai-based personal assistant app Haptik on Tuesday announced a partnership with Ola that will enable users to book Ola cabs through instant messaging on the Haptik mobile app.
6. Foodpanda to enter into a partnership with IRCTC
Online food ordering platform Foodpanda heads towards getting associated with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles the catering, tourism, and online ticketing operations of the Indian railways.
7. Roadrunnr’s office vandalised by protesters in Bangalore
Bangalore based hyperlocal startup Roadrunnr was vandalised on Saturday by group of 65 to 80 protesters. There were section of Roadrunnr’s delivery staffers behind this episode as reported by Deccan Chronicle. Roadrunnr officials claim that the attack was triggered by service providers and agencies who were losing blue-collar workers to the startup.
8. Payment Gateway Startup NumberMall Acquires BankSmarts
NumberMall Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based merchant-engaged payment gateway services platform, has acquired all the businesses of Delhi-headquartered analytics start-up BankSmarts Solutions for an undisclosed sum.
9. Housing.com dissolves operating committee which supervised management
Online real estate firm Housing.com has dissolved the operating committee set up by investors to oversee management. This move comes after the startup appointed Jason Kothari as its new Chief Executive Officer last week.
10. Chat privately with colleagues on ‘Facebook At Work’ soon
Dubbed as the version of Facebook designed for office environment, “Facebook at Work” will also have “Work Chat” – similar to Facebook Messenger – that will allows coworkers to message each other individually.
