Meta-search engine for road travel, Cabsguru has signed a deal with ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services Limited (OAIS) in order to launch a premium category of intercity cab services in eight cities in India including Delhi – NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Jaipur and Hyderabad.
OAIS that was established in 1995 is a completely-owned subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, Japan (ORIX). Listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Exchange, it is one of the largest diversified financial services companies in Japan. The company operates across 27 countries. In India, ORIX has been a market leader in several verticals including B2B Rent a Car Business, Employee Transportation Solutions, Operating and Financial Leasing, Service Centres, SME Loans, among others.
Cabsguru was founded in 2014 by Vikash Singh and Pulkit Ahuja. Using its app, users can book radio taxi cabs (TaxiForSure, Ola Cabs, Easy Cabs, Meru Cabs, Tab Cab, CabsInGoa) in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahemdabad, Pune, Jaipur, Baroda, Surat, Goa, Gurgaon, Noida and Ghaziabad.
The Cabsguru application helps users check cab availability of multiple service provider, compare fare, ratings of multiple cabs service providers and book quickly. It remembers your profile for various cab operators and automatically login and make booking. It serves as fare calculator too.
It is interesting that we recently had reported that the Delhi-based startup had raised an undisclosed amount in an investment round led by Prashanth Ranganathan, Founder and CEO of Paysense and former Head of Product (APAC) at PayPal. The company stood at a valuation of US $3.5 million, after that funding round. The Company had stated that the funds would be used to strengthen its product and bring in innovation and efficiency.
The startup claims to have more than one hundred and twenty thousand organic users and handles more than a hundred thousand cab search, comparison and booking queries on a monthly basis.
