Gurgaon based UrbanClap has acquired after sales services platform HandyHome in an equity deal.
Founded in 2015, HandyHome is a Mumbai based startup that helps users to book brand authorized repairs and other services for electronic appliances online. It acts as a gateway for the brands to receive service requests.
“The transaction has been closed and the prime motive is to strengthen the consumer base in services in the electronic appliances online,” an investor on the board of UrbanClap said, confirming the development on condition of anonymity.
UrbanClap was founded in 2014 by Abhiraj Bhal, Varun Khaitan, and Raghav Chandra. They were backed by Snapdeal founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal in their early days.It provides a marketplace for standardised blue collared services like electricians or home cleaning and white collared services like photographers, interior designers, yoga instructors, etc. It is currently operational in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune & Hyderabad, and has over 80 categories of services listed on its platform.
Prior to this, in July 2015, HandyHome raised seed funding from early stage Silicon Valley-based Bessemer Ventures and Mumbai-based Kae Capital.
UrbanClap had earlier raised $25-million in series B funding led by SAIF Partners, Accel Partners and Bessemer. Ratan Tata had also recently invested in the startup.
As per the data furnished on Google Play, HandyHome has 10,000 – 50,000 installs. Here’s a screen-shot of the reviews
