In 2010, when 9th generation entrepreneur, Raghav Somani graduated in Business Management from Singapore Management University, he was very sure of what he was going to do. The Chennai born and brought up entrepreneur at heart, came back to India to work with the family business which at the time was involved in distribution of Video Tapes and Audio-Video Accessories. With a clear vision, the very next year he founded his own venture Headphone Zone.

Headphone Zone is India’s first exclusive online store for Headphones, Earphones and Personal Audio devices. A unique retail concept combining Music, Electronics and Style, Headphone Zone is all set to carve its niche in the India’s E-Commerce space. Given the fact that Indian population is extremely passionate about music, Headphone Zone is a destination store for them, to discover the world’s finest Headphone brands.

The brand started out in 2011 as an exclusive headphone and earphone offline retail store and quickly scaled up to operate 6 stores in Chennai and Bangalore. But as the Indian customer started moving towards informed online research through forums and blogs for product discovery, Headphone Zone also shifted its focus from the retail stores to the online web-store. The web-store went online on 1st January, 2015. The startup features over 600 distinct styles of headphones. The store has categories, sound guides, experts advise and reviews that help users with the required information and knowledge to make informed decisions. Headphone Zone aspires to educate its audience about the nuances of high-end audio. They present to you international brands from Milano designed V-MODA, high-resolution handcrafted headphones from Audeze, wireless sports earphones from Jaybird, premium earphone tips from Comply, music players, amps and DACs from FiiO, RHA earphones from Scotland, JAYS from Sweden, and others. Headphone Zone currently operates in Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi with a core team of ten working out of Mumbai. Since the launch of the web-store, the startup has seen considerable traction and a 45% month-on-month increase. Over the last year, the company has witnessed a 20 fold turnover. With over 1,50,000 visitors a month and counting, the number of orders placed on in a single month, which stood at 68 at the start of the last year has grown up to 1300 orders, this January. The startup boasts of a customer base spread across more than 160 cities and towns throughout the country.

Raghav Somani and his team aim to take Headphone Zone to the length and breadth of the country, with a target to grow its business 100% in this year and 3 fold over the next two years. While the startup plans to remain focused on Headphones, Earphones and related accessories as a category, it will work towards bringing several prominent high-end international headphone brands to India. The company also understands the importance of customer engagement and is working at building a strong audiophile community in India.
