Abhinav Singh Bindra an Indian shooter and a World and Olympic champion in the 10 m Air Rifle event has done proud to the country By winning the gold in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games. It was also India’s first gold medal since 1980, when the Men’s Field Hockey Team won the gold. He is the first and only Indian to have held both the World and Olympic titles at the same time, a feat he accomplished by capturing the Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, after having won the gold at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships. Abhinav won Gold Medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.The Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra, has started a venture capital fund to invest in startups. He has set up an incubation fund called Shooting Star LLP with an initial investment of $2 Mn, reported ET. The incubation fund is created in an equal partnership with consulting firm Franchise India.
When asked about the development, Abhinav said,
“This is my first widespread and extensive business venture. A startup is very much like an athlete’s life… There’s no guarantee for success. There are only challenges but that’s a life I’ve lived for the past 20 years.”
Shooting Star LLP will invest in scalable formats with specialised domain expertise in areas such as emerging sports academies, sports injury, rehab, tech, equipment and training, health apps, child development, holistic wellness, organic foods and dairy. The focus of the fund will be mainly on services.
