After just an year of joining Flipkart as VP and Head of its Seller ecosystem, Manish Maheshwari has quit the company. Manish Maheshwari, has joined Mukesh Ambani-owned Network18 Media and Investments Ltd. Maheshwari has been appointed as the CEO of Web18, the mobile and Internet arm of Network18 group.Manish Maheshwari will lead Network18’s digital and e-commerce assets including moneycontrol.com, ibnlive.com,in.com, firstpost.com, BookMyShow, HomeShop18 and Burrp, according to a statement from Network18. Web18 (Web18 Software Services Limited) is the Internet and Mobile arm of Network 18, India’s leading Media conglomerate. It has a variety of leading information and transactional services based on the Internet.
While talking about the development,Network18 Group Chairman Adil Zainulbhai mentioned,
“Maheshwari brings with him a good mix of Silicon Valley tech product culture and an understanding of the ground realities in India. Both qualities will be crucial as we take Network18 to the next level of digital transformation,”
This development marks another top-level exit from Flipkart. Earlier Mukesh Bansal, head of marketplace and a board member at Flipkart, and chief business officer Ankit Nagori, had resigned. Both of them have now joined hands to launch a healthcare, sports and fitness venture.
This doesn’t look like a very positive scenario for Flipkart, however, Maheshwari who has previously worked at McKinsey and Procter & Gamble (P&G) and holds an MBA from Wharton Business School, will surely work towards Web18’s success.
