Amazon is planning to bring its supreme ‘Prime’ services in India, just after completion of 3 years of operations in the country. Amazon’s Prime service has been very well received in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and some west European countries.
Amazon’s blog said that it found a mention of Amazon Prime in Amazon India website’s source code which read as, “Introducing Amazon Prime: FREE Guaranteed Two-Day Delivery. With Amazon Prime, you get fast delivery on lakhs of eligible items. No minimum order size. Start your 30-day free trial.”
This news comes courtesy of MakTechBlog, which found ‘Prime’ mentioned on Amazon India website’s source code.
Maktech’s sources say that Amazon Prime will be launched at Amazon India’s 3rd anniversary next month and the same was verified from a source code on the website.
What is however not mentioned is the subscription rate. Prime has been available in the US for quite some time now, and it costs $99 (approximately Rs 5,946) per year and a discounted $39 (approximately Rs 2,342) for students.
Prime is essentially the inspiration behind Flipkart’s First service, and subscribers are entitled to free two-day shipping with no minimum order size, unlimited streaming of movies and videos on Amazon Instant Video, and a service called Kindle Owners Lending Library, wherein Kindle owners can borrow one free e-book from Amazon’s library.
Prime subscribers in India are also likely to get access to the Amazon Instant Video service.
