Fashion marketplace Voonik, which is backed by Sequoia Capital, has acquired three startups to build its premium fashion product Vilara. With the latest acquisition, the venture has now acquired a total of five startups in the past six months. Voonik, that mainly has its focus on curated fashion in the unbranded fashion segment, is surely stepping ahead in the direction of establishing its leadership in the segment. This is established by the acqi-hiring and acquisition spree that it is on.
The three companies that have been acquired now are :
- Online marketplace for designers and boutiques Zohraa. It is a 12-person team,
- Online silk store Picksilk.com, which currently has an eight-person team.
- Styl, a platform that connects stylists and salons with consumers, with a team size of nine.
Last year as well, Voonik acqui-hired TrialKart to provide virtual dressing room experience to its users. A month back, the company acqui-hired Getsy, a curator of personalized fashion for men. This development happened when Voonik, was set to expand into men’s fashion and entered the men’s segment with its app Mr Voonik. The company also roped in four people from the ten-member team from online apparel rental startup Klozee, which shut down operations in January this year.
