With an aim to strengthen its user base further, Amazon India launches Global Store

Global ecommerce giant Amazon has been on a bid to gain market space ever since its inception. It is due to this approach that Amazon today has become synonymous to online shopping.

As per the latest reports, ecommerce platform Amazon India has reportedly launched a global store which will facilitate Indian customers to buy selected products from Amazon.com, the company’s American website. Users can proceed with their payments via net banking for the same.

At the Global Store, Indian customers can now purchase select products listed on the company’s American site and pay in rupees through options like net banking. These products will come with local customer care support and delivery, with their pricing inclusive of import duties and taxes. However, online shoppers cannot pay for these products with cash on delivery.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Agarwal, country head of Amazon India mentioned,

“While initially (it will have) products from the US, in future tens of millions of products from key markets like United Kingdom, Germany and Japan (will be listed) as well,”

He further added,

“A large part of our growth in China is driven by the global store, as customers know it’s an authentic product. We are hopeful that Indian customers feel the same,”

Speaking about the upcoming product launches, Aggarwal mentioned,

“We are now operationally ready. The first couple of years we were building our core operational platform in India. As we get more equipped, the velocity (with) which we can bring global products goes up. We should think of simultaneous launches with US.”

With the introduction of the Global store, the total selection has now reached 85-million products.
