Google has launched a new hyper local services app – Areo currently operational in Mumbai and Bengaluru, that aggregates food delivery and home services start-ups in India.
The app will feature restaurants, chefs, local electricians, painters and so on. Users can pay by card, net banking or cash on delivery.
The app’s description goes as follows – “Food delivery from your favourite restaurants, providers and chefs. Home services from local electricians, painters, cleaners, plumbers and more.”
“We are constantly experimenting with ways to better serve our users in India. In this case, Aero makes everyday chores and ordering food easier by bringing together useful local services like ordering food or hiring a cleaner in one place,”
a company spokesperson said in an email.
From the look of the app, it seems that Google plans to be one-stop solution for all kind of services people search on the Internet. It wants users to search for their requirements on Aero instead of going to different app. This also makes discovery of services and restaurants easy for consumers. However, it is not clear, if Google would want to aggregate e-commerce portals going ahead.
The Indian-born CEO, Sundar Pichai has a great trust in this country and looks better future growth. He had announced at the start of this year that this country has a potential of $1 trillion digital economies in coming 3 to 4 years. This really makes sense to make products which are targeted for India.
