Mumbai-based Rakyan Beverages Pvt. Ltd, which sells cold-pressed juices under the RAW Pressery brand, has raised funding from Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez.
Founded in January 2014 by Anuj Rakyan , RAW Pressery is a Mumbai-based F&B startup that manufactures cold-pressed juices with a blend of ingredients to help you trim, glow, shield, build, run and flush, and have been concocted with heavily researched recipes. Rakyan Beverages, the parent company of the juice provider, is undergoing a brand transformation and wants to work on its affordability and accessibility.
Jacqueline’s investment of Rs 3.5 crore pegs the company’s worth at about Rs 120 crore, similar to the valuation Rakyan got during last year’s investments, when the startup raised close to $4.5 million in series B funding from Sequoia Capital, Saama Capital Management and DSG Consumer Partners.
“While professional investors take calculated risks, celebrities are believers and users of the brand. Jacqueline has about 13 Mn followers just on Instagram and can influence buyers. Hence, she is not an ambassador but an evangelist who can have an impact on the topline,”
RAW Pressery sells its products in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Chennai. It is looking to expand its presence to 12 other cities.
With the raised funds, Rakyan plans to improve upon the company’s manufacturing and marketing segments.
Besides selling its products through modern retail outlets, including Nature’s Basket, Food Hall and HyperCITY, the company also runs a subscription-based service, wherein juice bottles are delivered at the doorsteps of its registered users. It claims to have an active customer base of 25,000, and produces 8,000 bottles per day.
