Classroom education in India has stifled many brilliant minds. At times some brilliant students remain unrecognized because of the lack of proper teaching methodologies. One startup that has understood this pain point well is  Unacademy.

Unacademy one of India’s largest education platform in a short span of just 6 months has managed to loop in over 300,000 students to its wide range of courses. The students have benefited from over 2,400 online lessons and specialised courses on cracking various competitive examinations, on their platform. They have on-boarded some of the top teachers in the country, including Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer and now the Governor of Pondicherry.

Unacademy is an ed-tech company based in Bangalore, India, which offers free education to its users through short videos. In 2016, Unacademy was one of the 50 smart startups under Social Impact Category. The startup is headquartered in Bangalore and was founded by Gaurav Munjal (Co-Founder & CEO), Roman Saini,Hemesh Singh and  Sachin Gupta. Gaurav Mujal Entrepreneur; sold first company to CommonFloor. NMIMS Computer Science graduate, worked with Media.net (Directi) as a software developer for one year. Started Flat.to/Flatchat in 2013 which was later sold to CommonFloor. Roman is one of India’s youngest IAS officers; he was the Assistant Collector of Jabalpur prior to starting Unacademy. Hemesh graduated with ECE major from MNNIT. Hemesh was Flat.to’s first employee and after its acquisition by Commonfloor, joined Gaurav as Co-Founder at Unacademy. Sachin Gupta is MNNIT Computer Science graduate and has worked with Cisco and Goibibo as Software developer for two years. Hemesh and Sachin have worked together on multiple projects in the past.

With over 2 million views every month, they are touching the lives of people in the remotest corners of the country. Their success stories include thousands of students who have cracked toughest of examinations, improved their ability to speak and write better and increase their knowledge. Their vision is to partner with the brightest minds and have courses on every possible topic in multiple languages so the whole world can benefit from these courses.
