Home services startup UrbanClap Technologies India Pvt. Ltd has acquired Delhi-based concierge services provider GoodService Labs Pvt. Ltd and we may soon be able to book services on UrbanClap with a simple chatroom message as it is currently working on merging the operations.
The development was first reported by TechinAsia, citing two company sources. The acquisition is an all-cash deal, the report said, without specifying the amount. This is second acquisition by UrbanClap this year, after its purchase of after-sale service platform HandyHome
Founded in 2014, Goodservice offers on-demand services to users through chat. The app acts as a personal secretary and assists in finding services that range from electricians and plumbers to booking movie tickets and getting doctor’s appointments.
The startup connects service professionals such as plumbers, wedding photographers, yoga teachers or interior designers to consumers. It offers services in 75 categories across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune.
The company had raised $1.6 million in funding from Sequoia Capital in June 2015.
The GoodService platform can prove beneficial for UrbanClap, which has been working on an algorithm that asks a series of questions on each category, to make customisation of service offerings more accurate. A chat service will allow the company a deeper insight into consumer behaviour.
UrbanClap, which raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Ratan Tata in December, is currently scouting for acquisitions to expand inorganically.
